About Our Panel Speakers
Michael Harvey
Michael Harvey serves as a managing director at MUFG Union Bank, NA, leading an Atlanta-based team of corporate and investment banking professionals. MUFG Union Bank, NA’s Atlanta team works with corporate clients throughout the Southeast.
Prior to joining MUFG Union Bank, NA, Harvey served as a senior vice president for JP Morgan Chase and held earlier positions with Regions Financial Corporation and Mizuho Corporate Bank. He started his career in the US Corporate group at Wachovia Bank in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Harvey received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wofford College and an MBA from the University of South Carolina.
Wei Chen
Wei has over 16 years of public accounting experience in the US and in China. Wei is currently stationed in Deloitte’s New York office and leads the US-China cross border investment practice. Wei has in-depth knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, China GAAP, US and China tax system, international tax system and treaties. Wei has helped companies in developing global tax planning and designing tax- efficient corporate structures and business models. She has extensive experience advising on cross-border investment, mergers and acquisitions, tax controversy and foreign exchange control.
Wei regularly provides IPO advisory services to companies to be listed in US, Hong Kong and China stock markets and speaks regularly at conferences on topics relating to US-China cross border investment.
Lynn Yang, Ph.D.
Lynn Yang is an economist and Director in the transfer pricing practice of Deloitte Tax LLP. Lynn has sixteen years of economic consulting and Big 4 experience. Lynn specializes in global tax rationalization, transfer pricing planning, documentation, audit defense, advance pricing agreements, cost sharing arrangements, intangible property transfer, and intercompany services transactions and financing. Lynn’s work has spanned a variety of industries.
Lynn is also the Southeast leader of Deloitte’s U.S. Chinese Services Group. In this role, Lynn coordinates with colleagues throughout the U.S. and China to assist Chinese companies seeking access to the US market and to provide cross border services to US investors in China.
Michael Yuan
Michael Yuan is Director, Global Subsidiary Banking, for Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, a member of MUFG, a global financial group. Based in New York, Mr. Yuan manages the coordination of the bank’s Asia Network business for U.S.-based multinational corporations with Asian subsidiaries. He delivers a wide range of corporate finance and cross border financial solutions and has broad experience in Asian emerging markets, particularly China.
Mr. Yuan managed Asia Desk at Standard Chartered Bank in both New York and China prior to joining MUFG. He holds series 79 and 63 licenses, Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical science and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Rutgers University. Mr. Yuan is fluent in Mandarin, Japanese, and English.
Yingcong Xu
Mr. Xu is a Patent Attorney of Watson & Band Law Offices in Shanghai. Prior to joining Watson and Band, Mr. Xu worked as an IP Council in Saint-Gobain Shanghai Research and served as an IP manager in Shanghai National Technology Transfer Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences. His IP practice covers all aspects of Chinese patent prosecutions and enforcements, including but not limited to, patent portfolio management and procurement, due diligence, technology transferring and licensing, and assisting in pre-litigation and/or litigation enforcement before the Chinese State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and/or Chinese courts. Mr. Xu also counsels clients on trademark and copyright matters, and assists in providing legal opinions for various IP related issues. Mr. Xu received a Master Degree in International Business Law from University of Hull in England, and a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from Shanghai University.
Lei Fang, J.D., Ph.D., M.D.
Lei Fang is a patent lawyer in the Atlanta Office of Troutman Sanders LLP. She focuses her practice on IP prosecution, due diligence, opinions, counseling and procurement in biotechnical, chemical, nanotechnology, neuroscience, medical device, pharmaceutical and life sciences fields. She represents clients domestically and internationally and offers counsel on patent, trademark and copyright protection as well as various IP-related transactional matters. Lei also has extensive experience performing validity, non-infringement, FTO analyses, licensing and technology transfers, contract review and FDA regulation review for new drugs and medical devices. Lei’s experience also includes Hatch-Waxman patent litigation and International Trade Commission Section 337 investigations involving US and Chinese companies. Lei has represented multiple Chinese companies in various corporate and IP matters in the United States.
Lei speaks and writes fluent Chinese and is actively involved in many Asian-American organizations, many of which she serves as a legal counsel. Her extensive knowledge on IP-related matters in the biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, and life sciences industries have led to many speaking engagements for Lei.
