Please join The Halle Institute and the China Research Center for "Politics, Trade, and Philanthropy: New Research on China," a book panel discussion with authors Tonio Andrade, Mary Brown Bullock, and Baogang Guo.
Meet the panelists:
Tonio Andrade
Published this month, Dr. Andrade's Lost Colony: The Untold Story of China's First Great Victory over the West, examines the strengths and weaknesses of European and Chinese military techniques during the Sino-Dutch War, providing a new perspective on long-held assumptions about Western power, Chinese might, and the nature of war.
Mary Brown Bullock
Dr. Bullock's new book, The Oil Prince's Legacy: Rockefeller Philanthropy in China, traces the Rockefeller family's philanthropy in China from the 19th century to today. Family diaries, letters, interviews in China, and institutional archival records are used to tell a compelling story about successive Rockefeller generations and U.S.-China cultural relations.
Baogang Guo Dr. Guo is professor of political science and director of the Center for International Education at Dalton State College. His book, China's Quest for Political Legitimacy: The New Equity-Enhancing Politics, examines the challenges facing Chinese political development in the near future.
