Shusen Yang
COBB COUNTY, GA - A severe storm that wreaked havoc on the metro Atlanta area Saturday evening has claimed its first victim.
Cobb County Police say a woman was killed after a tree fell onto her car. The accident happened just after 6 p.m. on Powers Ferry Road at St. James Walk in Marietta.
According to investigators, the driver of a maroon 1993 Honda Accord was northbound on Powers Ferry Road when the tree fell onto the car. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.
The female driver of the Honda Accord has been identified as Shusen Yang, 55, of Marietta.
Witnesses say the storm blew into the area but didn't stay long.
"I saw the sky was really dark and it started raining and all the sudden it was pouring down. I couldn't believe the sky was that dark," said Ruhu Morgan, a Marietta resident.
Morgan said the tree was so large, you couldn't see anything underneath it.
"I saw the car, but I couldn't see any head or anything. I thought to myself that who ever it is, is pretty messed up," Morgan said.
