The nation’s Asian American population increased to 15.2 million, or 5 percent of the estimated total U.S. population of 301.6 million, according to Census statistics released in May 2008. Asians were the second fastest-growing minority group, with a 2.9% population increase between 2006 and 2007. The Asian Diaspora’s enormous economic clout continues to attract attention and diversity from businesses.
Georgia has the third fastest-growing Asian-American population in the United States. Asian buying power totaled approximately USD 459 billion in 2007 with an anticipated rising to USD 670 billion by 2012. AAHF Gala celebrates these milestones and the many contributions Asians-Americans will continue to make. Importantly, the Asian-American population includes people from a wide variety of cultural, political and religious backgrounds. AAHF Gala is unique as it brings members of these varied Asian-American communities together in Georgia.
