Doraville owner of agency for illegals gets prison
Authorities say a Doraville woman has been sentenced to prison on a charge of conspiring to transport and harbor illegal immigrants.
U.S. District Judge William S. Duffey sentenced 44-year-old Chun Yan Lin to two years in prison to be followed by 3 years of supervised release.
U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said many of the workers in the case were underpaid for working long weeks, and they lived in substandard conditions after being placed in locations across the Southeast.
Yates said that Lin owned an employment agency called "Lucky," in Chamblee, and conspired with others to transport and provide jobs to illegal workers. Authorities say they were primarily placed in restaurant jobs in South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Georgia.
