Music festival: Rounder Records quartet NewFound Road headlines the Raccoon Creek Bluegrass Festival. 6 p.m. July 9; 12:30 p.m. July 10. At Raccoon Creek Music Park, Dallas.

Stage: Douglas Tappin’s musical drama “I Dream: The Story of a Preacher From Atlanta” is based on events in the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The world premiere is directed by Jasmine Guy and runs July 9-31 at the Woodruff Arts Center, Atlanta.

Stage: “The Phantom of the Opera” is on its final national tour.The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical will be at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre through July 18.

Comedy: You probably know him best from “Full House,” but there’s always been lots of speculation that Dave Coulier could be the inspiration for Alanis Morissette’s cutting “You Oughta Know.” See if the comedian acknowledges the rumors when he plays the Funny Farm Comedy Club in Roswell this weekend. 8 and 10:30 p.m. July 9-10; 7:30 p.m. July 11.

Stage: The fantastical Cirque D’Or will thrill audiences at 8 p.m. at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, Mableton.

Comedy: Fast-rising comedian and actress Luenell will have you rolling in the aisles at 8 and 10 p.m.at the 14th Street Playhouse,  Atlanta.

Visual art: The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center celebrates the opening of “Shana Robbins: Supernatural Conductor” and “Amy Myers: Feminine Space” from 8-10 p.m.

Visual art: Take a walk and see some art at the monthly Castleberry Hill Second Friday Art Stroll. The free event starts at 7 p.m.  in the Castleberry Hill Neighborhood,  Atlanta.

Music: System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian goes orchestral with a performance with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m. at Chastain Park Amphitheater, Atlanta.

SATURDAY

Pets: Fly over to Atlanta’s Exotic Bird Fair to purchase macaws, canaries, cockatoos, finches and lovebirds, along with everything needed to care for them. 9 a.m. at the North Atlanta Trade Center, Norcross.

Creepy crawlies: The cold-blooded creatures rule at Fernbank’s annual Reptile Day. 10 a.m. at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History, Atlanta.

Festival: Hear some live blues and sample great blueberry-inspired treats at the annual BluesBerry Festival at 5 p.m. in Downtown Historic Norcross.

Cars and stars: Diddy hosts the V-103 Car & Bike Show, which has shining stars both vehicular and musical. Noon-9 p.m. at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta.

Kids: Mister Greggy’s Silly Circus Show and Movie offers up “Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland” at 2:30 p.m. at the Plaza Theatre, Atlanta.

Movie: Duluth’s Flicks on the Bricks will have a free showing of “Kung Fu Panda” at 7 p.m. at the Duluth Festival Center and Amphitheater.

Music: Former Beatle Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band take the stage at 8 p.m. at Chastain Park Amphitheater, Atlanta.
