Families: 18 species and nearly 100 live geckos are on view at “Geckos: Tails to Toepads.” The exhibition continues through Sept. 6 at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History, Atlanta.

Holiday: The Avondale Estates 4th of July Celebration begins with a 10 a.m. parade down Clarendon Avenue and concludes with fireworks at Lake Avondale.
Holiday: City of Kennesaw’s Summer Concert Series continues with Bruce In The USA, a Bruce Springsteen tribute, and some Fourth of July fireworks. The show begins at 8 p.m. at the Historic Train Depot, Kennesaw
Holiday: Stone Mountain Park’s 43rd annual Fantastic Fourth Celebration combines a lasershow and fireworks are free. July 3-5. Vehicle entry to the park is $10 for a one-day permit.
Holiday: Marietta’s Fourth in the Park gets under way with a 10 a.m. parade which begins at Roswell Street Baptist Church and travels west on Roswell Street, north on E. Park Square past Glover Park and the Square, down Cherokee Street and ends at North Marietta Parkway. Festival begins in Glover Park following the parade.
Holiday: The Georgia Independence Day Festival and Fireworks begins at 3 p.m. July 3-4 at Nash Farm Park in Hampton.
SUNDAY
Sports: The 2010 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race gets under way at 6:45 a.m., when the wheelchair race starts. The footrace will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the starting line near Lenox Square. The race ends in Piedmont Park.
Holiday: The historic Old Courthouse Square in Decatur is the perfect setting for Fourth of July on the Square. The Pied Piper Parade begins at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. concert with the Callanwolde Concert Band. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
Holiday: Conyers Fabulous 4th Festival starts at 5 p.m. in the Georgia International Horse Park, Conyers.
