About Shandong
Shandong is a province in eastern China with a population of 93 million people, the second largest province in China based on population. Shandong is home to China’s highest agricultural output and is a renowned producer of various fruits including apples, pears, peaches, apricots, dates, grapes and watermelons. Additionally, its major industrial product output ranks third in China and includes energy, chemicals, metallurgy, building materials, electronics, textiles and food.
Shandong is a Regional Partner with the State of Georgia, having joined the partnership in 2008. Since that time, Governor Perdue visited Shandong in August 2008 for the Regional Leaders’ Summit where healthcare and energy were discussed. Shandong has led two delegations to Georgia, a sports delegation in November 2008 and a healthcare delegation in August 2009.
