搞不懂，该说亚城上海人也不会少，上海人又是见过市面的一族，怎么连个同乡会都没有？

同乡会还没成立，阿拉&nbsp; 们就打起来了<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp; 为了 儍么子&nbsp; ‘-ese’开打。<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp; 12楼***156 以一敌二，砸了10楼Eva和11楼***124两砖头，扇了两耳光。<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp; Eva和11楼 吃了两记生活，响都无敢响。真是TMD赖无比。

<P>It should be Shanghain or Shanghaier,&nbsp;not "shanghainese". Just like you don't say "Canad-ese"&nbsp;to people from Canada, you don't call people from Shanghai with the "-ese" ending!</P> <P>In my limited knowledge about this English&nbsp;language, words ending with "-ese" oftentimes have degrading tune, at least in the old days in the British culture I believe.&nbsp;Think of words such as Portugese, Pekingnese (which happens to be also the name of a kind of dogs), Vitnamnese, etc. How many "-ese" can you find from people in Europe? Very very few. How many can you find&nbsp;from nations in Asia? Many many. It's simply a remainder of the British colonies and it's deep rooted mentality, even today.</P> <P>You don't need to agree to this notion above, and you can still do what you like to do as an individual, but PLEASE do NOT try to argue, unless you have any linguistic basis to provide readers here with educated knowledge about it. I'm here to offer a very personal opinion, I have no interest to raise a debate.</P>

How can you organize a Shanghai tongxianghui when the best comment you as a shanghaiese can get is "You don't look like a shanghaiese".<br>

<P>In California, I never heard any Tong Xiang Hui. However, I heard so many activities from different Tong Xiang Hui including Beijing Tong Xiang Hui here. Being born in Shanghai and lived all my life till I came to U.S, I heard different Tong Xiang Hui in the university while I was in Shanghai, China. I think it is strictly volunteering and non-profit organization. It shows the integrity of shanghai group like the other group from the other city or providence( in my opinion). Maybe a lot of Shanghainese from Atlanta are too busy with their own&nbsp;business and their professional organization to be more purpose driven. </P> <P>Thanks for those who gives your humble opinion.</P>

The concept of 同乡会 is very antiquated and out of place here. It was used in big cities in China in old days when people from rural areas came to big cities to make livings. They assocated each other and help each other by setting up 同乡会 based upon people irginality. You never hear of Beijing&nbsp;同乡会, Tianjing 同乡会 or Shanghai 同乡会 in China in the old days.&nbsp;&nbsp;People&nbsp;from these big cities&nbsp;did not need 同乡会. It sounds very odd to hear Shanghai 同乡会 here.

<P>回5楼，的确那是CE主持的活动。大家吃喝，玩猜成语游戏，还有Emory的许教授讲太极拳防老年摔跤，等等。那好像是亚特兰大上海人聚集最多的一次活动。</P> <P>4楼</P>

<P>亚特兰大上海同乡会十几年前（98年99年），经常出没，Richard Z，Wendy T 等等都是常客。蛰伏了十几年了，应该出来了，否则太对不起世博了。</P>
